The landscapes of Tierra del Fuego Island have remained almost unchanged since Magellan first saw them in 1520. Outside of the “big cities” of Ushuaia and R\u00edo Grande, the island is very sparsely populated, with only a handful of large cattle ranches and a few scattered villages.<\/p>\n

Sport fishing in Tierra del Fuego is one of the most important tourist alternatives in this area, due to the generous number and size of the species that inhabit the area. The richness of trout such as Brown Trout, Rainbow, Sea Run or sea trout, Brook and Steelhead, make this area the best place in Latin America for this sport. <\/p>\n

There are many rivers and lakes on the island where sport fishing can be practiced, but the Rio Grande is considered the best river in the world in its category for Sea Run or sea trout fishing, and it is considered the “International Trout Capital”. <\/p>\n

The trout that can be found in the area have an average weight of 5 to 14 kilos and are clearly an attraction for fishing lovers from all over the world, who come every year to this basin known as the most important in Tierra del Fuego.<\/p>\n

From October to December you can enjoy incredible dry fly fishing for resident trout. The first entries of fish begin in November, with the main entries starting in February and continuing until the end of the season in mid-April.<\/p>\n
