Travel the route of the southern spider crab at the End of the World…

As in the last century, artisanal fishing for spider crab -a species of giant crab- remains unchanged in Puerto Almanza, a small town located at the southern tip of the Argentine Patagonia, where fishermen daily throw their traps into the Beagle Channel in search of the “red gold”.

“Fin del Mundo Gourmet” is designed for those travelers who, in addition to tasting this Patagonian delicacy, wish to have an unforgettable experience by entering the icy waters of the end of the world and fish with their own hands the southern spider crab and be your own chef.

The adventure will begin in the morning as soon as we pick you up from your hotel in the city of Ushuaia. The 75 km road that separates us from our final destination is flanked by forests, rivers, lakes and glacial valleys with snow-capped peaks that will take your breath away.

After a little more than an hour and a half of travel with our local expert, we will arrive at the home of Diana and her husband, local artisanal fishermen, who will guide us through this unique experience.

Together with the fishing guides, we will embark on semi-rigid rubber dinghies in southern waters until we experience the thrill of setting the traps and finally catching our lunch. Back in the cozy restaurant of our fishermen friends we will taste an exquisite 3-course lunch: Beagle Dip, Spider Crab and dessert. Once back in the village we will return to Ushuaia after a unique day at the end of the world.

We will also have the opportunity to navigate the icy waters of the Beagle Channel tasting an exclusive 3-course menu prepared by the prestigious chefs of the Hotel Los Cauquenes Resort Spa and we will finish our tour experiencing the unmistakable taste of the black hake from the End of the World in a renowned restaurant of the city.

The best time to go is from October onwards, when the sun gradually begins to warm up and the snow begins to melt.
