Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best time of the year to visit the Iberá Marshlands?
It is best to avoid the summer months (December to March), not only to avoid high temperatures and mosquitoes, but also because summer is when it rains the most. Our recommendation is to visit the area in the spring months (from September to November), since at this time we will be able to appreciate a great quantity of flowers and the greatest variety of birds!
What to do in Esteros del Iberá?
The Esteros del Iberá or “shining waters” (Y verá) in Guaraní, since on full moon nights the water mirror seems to glow in the landscape, is the largest protected area in Argentina, the second largest wetland on the planet (12,000 km2) and the habitat for some 4,000 species of fauna and flora, which constitutes 30% of the country’s biodiversity.
An estuary is a marshy area caused by poorly drained soil with a high biodiversity, composed of marshes, gullies, lagoons and reservoirs, shallow lakes, grasslands and scrublands.
Esteros del Iberá is the perfect place to get in touch with nature…you can watch flora and fauna and be a meter away from alligators, capybaras, tapirs, deer, deer, river otters, herons, howler monkeys and birds of all kinds, go on boat rides, photographic safaris, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking and all framed in an extreme rurality where human presence is limited to a few locals.
