The Peninsula is a unique land formation and global conservation site, home to abundant marine life as well as an infinite variety of land birds. The predominant landscape corresponds to the Patagonian plateau with gentle or steep slopes on its coasts, and three large closed depressions that make up the salt flats. In addition to cliffs, alternating with extensive sandy beaches and marine erosion platforms. UNESCO awarded it World Heritage status in 1999.
