Strobel Lake is the only place on the planet where you can catch wild rainbow trout up to 12 kg or 26 pounds on foot, and perhaps that’s why this is the dream trip for most adventurous anglers around the world.

In one of the most remote and inhospitable corners of the Argentine Patagonia, is located this jewel of indescribable beauty, with prehistoric landscapes and trout of enormous size, so it is not surprising that anglers have renamed it “Jurassic Lake”.

The lake was first stocked with trout in 1996 in the Barrancoso River, the lake’s only source. Today, Lake Strobel is a unique cocktail: a unique breed of rainbow trout, crystal clear waters super oxygenated by the Patagonian winds that stir the lake, huge quantities of food in the form of scuds and a highly controlled sport fishery.

The Jurassic Lake fishing season starts in the month of November and ends on April 21 and the best months to fish are November, December and April, when the trout stay in the bays and the Barrancoso River.
